We invite you to begin your self-guided tour by noticing the Plaques here in the Entrance Area.

The little Sitting Room was for some time a Blessed Sacrament Chapel open to the public. We draw your attention to the pictures:

  • Two paintings of Our Lady
  • Two old photographs (titled)
  • Tile design from 1850s
  • Painting by Sr. M. Clare Augustine Moore

Sr. M. Clare Augustine Moore (1808-1880) the older sister of M. Clare Moore (Foundress of Cork and Bermondsey) was professed here in 1840. She had studied art in France and her illuminated works and paintings are said to be amongst the best in Ireland of the 19th Century.

As you go into the corridor, turn left. On your right before you enter the Chapel is a Viewing Room from which you can see Catherine’s grave. (Weather permitting, you can go there later.)

Notice the names of the Sisters buried here, and of the 13 buried at St. Teresa’s in Clarendon Street who died during Catherine’s ten years of religious life.

The panel on the left lists names of significant people who died during Catherine’s lifetime.
