As you are aware, this United Nations Day is commemorated every year on 5 June in more than 100 countries around the globe. This year, the main international celebrations will take place in Adelaide, Australia.

As stated by UNEP's Executive Director, Mr. Klaus Toepfer, " This is the first time that the main international celebrations will be held in the Pacific Region. The commemoration of this important annual event will give us an opportunity to not only promote people's participation in caring for the environment, but also raise environmental awareness in Australia, the region and around the world".
