Update on Kevin Clancy. He is still fighting against all the odds. He was expected to deteriorate at the weekend but on Sunday he was changed to a less intensive breathing machine. He underwent a tracheotomy and the doctors took out the tube that led to his lungs since June. Sedation was reduced and this morning he tried to communicate with his wife. Sherry Ciabattoni has recently been diagnosed with cancer of the liver. She had several tumors in the liver but it was decided that it was not the primary site. Then she had a mammogram of the breast and they have discovered the primary site. The lymph nodes are also affected. Sherry is a 41 year-old non-catholic. Her family are very distressed at how quickly the cancer has progressed and they are anxious to intercede with Venerable Catherine for her. She cannot have her liver treated with chemo so she has been put on a drug. She has become very depressed from this but so far it seems to be working.

Kathryn (Kay) O'Neill rsm is an Australian Sister of Mercy from the Cairns Congregation, North Queensland. She entered religious life in 1973 and worked as a secondary school teacher and then a welfare worker. In 1994 she became a social worker and worked with indigenous people in Alice Springs for 5 years before becoming ill. In February 1999 at age 46 she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, an incurable cancer of the bone marrow. Since then Kay has received several different treatments, some of which have limited the progress of the disease for short periods of time. At present the blood levels are stable and she is not receiving any treatment. The specialists have indicated that when the disease becomes active again there are no other treatments except chemotherapy, which can be of help.

Naomi is on cancer treatment at the moment. Her condition is a source of great worry and concern to her parents. They are praying to Catherine for her complete recovery.
